Język gruziński – podstawowe zwroty

13.09.2019

Krzysztof Nodar Ciemnołoński

Who can say at least a „good morning” in Georgian, kartuli ena, is in possession of knowledge almost secret to the rest of the world – a magic wand that opens doors and hearts and brings even a wider smile on Georgian faces.

You can freely communicate with Georgians in Russian, and in larger cities also in English. However, it’s worth learning the basic phrases in Georgian – it’s an amazing adventure, and at the same time a reason to be proud.

Georgian belongs to the family of South Caucasus (Cartwelian) languages. It is unlike any Slavic, Romance or Germanic language, which is why its acquisition is a challenge for foreigners. Georgians also have their own alphabet, not used anywhere else in the world. Their secret speech, which is used by only 5 million people, can be learned relatively easily. Just a few words will allow you to score Georgians and communicate with them in the simpliest, everyday situations.
